Printer Management
YQueue OMS supports a number of printers that can be used to print kitchen slips and tax receipts for customers.
Linking printers
Before following these steps, you should first review any printer-specific notes here .
To link a new printer tap the settings cog in the bottom right of the screen and then tap "Printers" in the navigation menu. Depending on whether you already have a printer linked to OMS, you will see a "Add Printer" button in the middle of the screen. If not, tap the three dots in the top right of the screen, followed by "Add Printer".
If you're adding a TSC TDP-225 you'll need to manually press the "Add TSC TDP-225" button as it has a specific setup workflow - otherwise wait for YQueue OMS to find your printer. Once the desired printer appears in the list of discovered devices tap the corresponding "Add" button. After a few moments YQueue OMS will be linked to your device.
Split Printing
YQueue OMS supports linking multiple printers to the same tablet and "routing" specific menu items to specific printers. This is configured through "Zones" (which are managed in the merchant console) and can be enabled on a per-OMS basis in printer general settings.
To route specific items to specific printers you must associate the desired zone(s) with the items in the merchant console and then associate the zone with the printer. For example, to route all drinks to the bar and all pizzas to the kitchen you would:
- Create two zones (bar & kitchen)
- Associate the relevant items in the merchant console with the relevant zone
- Link two printers to YQueue OMS, associating the bar zone to one printer and the kitchen zone to the other printer
Kitchen slips will then be "split" across the two printers with only the relevant items printing out at each
Default Printer
The default printer is used to print customer receipts and any items that have not been associated with a zone when split printing is enabled.
YQueue OMS will automatically set the first linked printer as the default, so if you only plan on linking a single printer to the tablet no further configuration is necessary. You can change the default printer at any time through the "Default Printer" setting modal.
FAQ
I can't find my Epson TM-30.
In most situations this is due to Bluetooth being disabled, the printer not being paired through the device settings, or the printer is already paired with another device. Ensure that you have paired with the device through iOS or Android settings, then try linking the printer again.
While very uncommon, a small subset of Android devices disallow Bluetooth discovery if location services is disabled, even when Bluetooth is otherwise enabled.
I can't find my TSC TDP-225.
The TSC TDP-225 does not feature a discovery mode, so it must be linked manually.
I can't find my Shenzhen CMX 8008.
In most situations this is due Bluetooth being disabled or the device does not support Bluetooth low energy connections. Contact your device manufacturer (or if the device was provided by YQueue, your account manager) to determine if your device supports Bluetooth low energy connections.
I have multiple printers linked, but only one is printing.
To support multiple printers you should create zones so the necessary items can be routed to the correct printers.
If you want everything to print exactly the same on all your linked printers, create a single zone (you could call it "Default") and associate that zone with every menu item and every linked printer.
Kitchen slips are printing on my default printer, but I have multiple printers linked.
Ensure that all menu items and printers are correctly associated with the required zones.
Can I associate menu items & printers with multiple zones?
Yes, there is no limit to the number of zones that can be associated with menu items or printers.
I need to change/swap printers mid-trade, what should I do?
If you need to swap printers while they are in use (and both are linked to OMS) we recommend you close the OMS application before physically powering any printers on or off. This avoids a situation where OMS may attempt to print an order in the short period of time between the printer going offline and OMS recognising it is unavailable - which can result in OMS thinking the order is printed and not attempting to reprint when the second printer comes online.
