Catalog System Compatability

Kinesis Kiosk (sometimes referred to as Kiosk v2) is being phased out and replaced with our newest offering, YQueue Kiosk.

YQueue Kiosk is powered by our new catalog system with offers significantly more functionality and improves performance, especially on large menus.

To facilitate the transition from Kiosk v2 to YQueue Kiosk, we've implemented a compatibility layer that allows merchants to make use of YQueue Kiosk for any new deployments, while providing a little extra time to update and migrate existing hardware.

Known Limitations

Dietary Tags

Kiosk v2 cannot display the dietary tags that are supported in YQueue Kiosk.

Scheduled Availability

Kiosk v2 only supports scheduled availability at the menu level. If a schedule is associated with a category it will instead will be applied to any associated menus. If multiple categories under a single menu have different schedules, the schedule of the first category will be applied instead.

As such, we strongly recommend only applying schedules at the menu level while Kiosk v2 is deployed.

Item Percentage Caps (Discounts / Surcharges)

If a percentage cap is applied to a discount/surcharge it will not be displayed in the cart - it will only be applied when the order is placed.

As this is a undesirable (and misleading) behavior from a user's perspective, we strongly recommend that percentage caps are not applied to item-scoped discounts/surcharges while Kiosk v2 is deployed.

Item Surcharges

Surcharges that apply individually to items will appear under the name of the item in the cart, as well as the aggregate totals at the bottom of the cart.

This is an existing limitation that is unrelated to the new catalog system (but is still worth noting).

Multiple Surcharges

If multiple surcharges apply to the same cart the value of the surcharges will be displayed erroneously - they will only be correctly applied when the order is placed.

As this is a undesirable (and misleading) behavior from a user's perspective, we strongly recommend that multiple surcharges that could apply to a single cart are not configured while Kiosk v2 is deployed.

Taxes

Only a single percentage tax should be created at the outlet (i.e. GST). If multiple taxes are created, the tax with the highest percentage will be displayed in the Kiosk, however at order placement all taxes will be levied.

As this is a undesirable (and misleading) behavior from a user's perspective, we strongly recommend that only a single tax is configured configured while Kiosk v2 is deployed.
